- The restaurant where locals eat — not tourists
- The local market or fair if it coincides with your visit
- The most accessible hiking trail for the dog

Step 4 — Prepare the vehicle before leaving

Essential checklist before each trip:
- Full water tank
- Grey and black water tanks emptied
- Gas checked — always carry a spare cylinder
- Up-to-date documentation — insurance, ITV (vehicle inspection), and circulation permit
- Maps downloaded offline on Google Maps

Mobile coverage in rural and mountainous areas can disappear at any time. Always download maps before leaving.

Step 5 — Adapt the route to your vehicle

Not all routes are the same for a camper van as for a 7-meter motorhome. Before choosing a spot, always check:
- Maximum access height
- Road width
- Type of surface — asphalt, track, or dirt
